In Russian culture, the Matryoshka dolls have been produced since the end of the 19th century, around the late 1890s.
This doll set, a modern version, is all wood and elaborately lacquer-painted. There are five dolls in total.
This would be a wonderful gift for a new bride or new mother, with all the small ones inside.
This set of nesting dolls is in good condition, with no lacquer loss or chips.
